Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK University requires reliable and punctual attendance as a condition of employment.
Absenteeism and tardiness place a burden on other employees and Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK University as an organization. All employees are expected to be at their work site and ready for work at their scheduled start time. Since each department determines employee work schedules based on operational needs, some departments may set additional attendance and punctuality standards. Those departments must ensure that these standards are applied consistently across the department and that all employees are notified of these standards.
Employees who are unable to work as scheduled must follow department call in procedures. Failure to follow established departmental call in procedures may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment for repeated violations. Patterns of absence (e.g. consistent absence on a certain week day) and/or excessive absence may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment for repeated violation. If an employee is absent for three consecutive days and fails to follow departmental procedures for calling in, the employee’s employment can be terminated effective the day following the last day of work for job abandonment.
Employees are also expected to be at their assigned work site and ready to work at the scheduled time (including returns from breaks and lunch). Individual departments define their punctuality standards according to their needs and are responsible for communicating them to employees. In the rare instance an employee expects to be late he/she must follow department call in procedures. Excessive tardiness may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination for repeated violations.
Supervisors are encouraged to contact the Human Resources Department with concerns related to their employees' attendance and/or punctuality.
